Ownership & security

It’s your family’s record. We just keep it safe.

Kinbase holds the most personal information a family has. These are the rules we operate under, written in plain language so you never need a lawyer to know where you stand.

01

Export everything, always

In effect

One click produces the complete record as readable files and a printable book. You do not have to ask us, and there is no waiting.

02

Deletion is real deletion

In effect

When you delete the record, it is deleted. We do not keep a copy in an archive, and there is nothing for anyone to recover later.

03

The record is portable

In effect

It follows your parent through every agency, hospital, and caregiver change. When you leave a provider, the record leaves with you.

04

You control every share

In effect

Caregivers, agencies, and doctors see exactly what you choose, for as long as you choose. You can turn any permission off in one tap.

Exclusions

What we will never do

Sell or share anything that identifies your family, whether to advertisers, agencies, or anyone else.

Give an agency, caregiver, or anyone else access the family didn't explicitly grant.

Use your record for anything beyond running Kinbase for you. Any future option, such as contributing de-identified data to research, is off by default, explained in plain language, and always your family's choice.

Put trackers on this website. There is no ad pixel here and no analytics script, so nothing follows you.

03Security

The security floor

Kinbase is not legally required to meet hospital-grade security rules, because consumer records sit outside HIPAA. We build to that standard anyway, because your mother’s record deserves what a hospital’s record gets.

04Questions

Common questions

Is Kinbase HIPAA covered?

HIPAA covers hospitals, insurers, and their vendors. A record your family keeps about your own parent sits outside it, the same as the notes app on your phone. Kinbase builds to hospital-grade security anyway: encrypted in transit and at rest, role-scoped access, and every access logged. The promises that matter most, no selling of anything that identifies your family and real deletion, are stronger than HIPAA asks for.

Who can actually read my family's record?

Only the people your family invites, each with a role you set. Family members can read the full record and add to it. Caregivers log visits and read the handbook without seeing the family's private notes. A sponsoring agency sees counts only, unless the record's owner chooses to share more. You can change or remove anyone's access in one tap, and every access is logged.

What happens to my record if Kinbase shuts down?

You keep everything. Export is always one click away, so a full, readable copy of the record lives wherever you save it, independent of us. Kinbase also commits to archive mode: a care record does not vanish because a company changes. If we ever wound down, families would be given clear notice and a clean way to take the complete record with them.

Can our agency see our private family notes?

By default a sponsoring agency sees only counts, never content. The record's owner can additionally share the handbook, the medication list, and care notes marked for the circle, and can turn that off at any time. Private family notes, documents, and photos are never shared, and every agency view is logged. The record belongs to the family, and the agency's view is a window the family opens and can close at any time. When a family leaves the agency, the view ends and the record goes with them.

How does deletion actually work?

When you delete the record, it is gone. There is no hidden archive copy and nothing sitting in a backup for someone to restore later. Deletion removes the record from our systems, and once it is done there is nothing left for anyone, including us, to recover. If you want a copy first, export it before you delete.
